My journey to 80 will be very loooooooooonnnggg. I’m stuck at 40…er…41. My wife says that we all have a area in leveling that we hit the doldrums in. Mine is around 40. I have an RP guild I’m trying to get off the ground, a guild bank I’m trying to build, a full quest log that never seems to deplete much, and I don’t know how to get an RP “situation” started. On top of that, there are days, b.i.o.n., where I don’t feel like playing. Just no interest whatsoever. My in-game friends (and my, um, 5 guildies) must wonder where I am sometimes. I’m interested in WotLK, but I too see myself not doing a whole lot with it. All those 80s are going to be sitting around Org, or whatever the new hangout is, not really doing much of anything–cuz they rushed to 80, instead of savoring the journey. : / If I even get to 70, it’ll be a small miracle, lol. You’re not the only one, Nau (*big bear…um…tauren hug*).

Since I am a so-so raider, but I have different characters doing different things, my time gets all divided up. But while it’s oh-so-organized, I’m up to make nights where we explore, travel and play together, but the open world, the instances, and the old worlds! One bright side is the temporary end to raiding…which frees up time.

Aw shucks, you know you won’t be alone in that “not raiding” thing. I know a certain mage and warrior that got to 70 before Hugnir.
So, chin up, my little chickadee! Hugnir’s just been biding his time while everyone examines the shiny. He’ll always be there, waiting for a quiet night at home with his favorite mage. (or whomever she’s channeling that night…)

I take my time leveling. I don’t expect any of my 70s or my new death knight to hit 80 in the first few months, mostly because I want to take my time and experience the new content. I know there are a lot of people who plan to rush to 80, but I’m not one of them. It’ll be refreshing in a way to putter along and see the new areas, take things slowly, and not have to worry about end game content for a good long while. I won’t plan things for Tuesday nights anyway

Since a lot of the Wrath things are heavily lore driven, it should provide plenty of RP inspiration. I hope that inspires more random RP, instead of less. I’ve met a few folks in Stormwind that I haven’t RPed with before, who are all still willing to chat. As for worrying about being a downer, you’re not. A lot of what you said are valid concerns. Hopefully the RP situation will resolve itself, like Garilos said, as people work through the new content. We’ll see how it goes.

First *hug*.

Second – I think it’ll depend. I know I”m planning on having one character (Annorah) go for 80 or bust … but the paladin will be leveling slowly, RPing the whole way through. Northrend is a HUGE deal for her, and I’m really looking forward to that aspect of things. (They can keep their deathknights though, for sure – I will roll one to do the starting zone, because Im told the lore is awesome, and then he/she/it will get the delete-hammer. NO interest whatsoever))

And third – a small ray of hope – the dance changes didn’t make it in for wrath, but they’re still on the table, not only to pick from different dances (a human doing the blood elf dance or somesuch) but to actually pick dance moves and create a special one for your character. I’m not sure if that’s slated to go live in one of the 3.1/3.2 patches that are already in development or not – but don’t give up on dancing!

My biggest concern is the loss of random RP. I suspect it will be a vicious circle of a few people dropping RP so they can level up their characters. Others will find it more difficult to find someone to roleplay with so they will decide to drop RP so they too can level up their characters. And on and on. The situation will probably correct itself once enough people have played through the new area but how long will that take?

As much as I’m concerned about the reduction of RPing on the realm, I know I’ll be participating in less RP as I level up my characters in the new zone. I’ve already participate in less RP due to leveling up a couple of new chars so that I can play with a friend who recently started playing.
