No matter what they think…..

  • Behind the microwave cart is not an appropriate playground for kittens.
  • On the counter is not an appropriate playground for kittens.
  • On the stove is not an appropriate playground for kittens.
  • Under the stove is not an appropriate playground for kittens.
  • In the litter box is not an appropriate playground for kittens.
  • Behind the dishwasher is not an appropriate playground for kittens.
  • Under mommy’s skirt is not an appropriate playground for kittens.
  • Pantyhose are not appropriate toys for kittens… especially when mommy is wearing them.
  • Once the mouse is caught and dead, kittens are no longer allowed to play with it.
  • Old cats tire out much faster than kittens and will eventually thump the kitten upside the head.
  • Bedtime is a time to sleep, not play blanket monster with mommy’s toes.
  • Pouncing on Lily will likely lead to great harm.
  • The path from the living room to the kitchen is not a racetrack for kittens.
  • The doorframes are not climbing poles for kittens.
  • The computer desk is not an appropriate bed for kittens.
  • The door is closed to keep kittens out because they are not allowed in that room.

  1. I need to print this out and give it to Max and Charlie.

  2. It has been so long since I had a kitten in the house I had almost forgotten what little terrors they can be as they learn what is and is not allowed. It is certainly an adventure!

  3. Awww, kittens are so cute. (The pantyhose thing — ouch. Mine used to climb up my leg all the time, but at least it was while I was wearing pants.)

  4. Sounds like fun times at your place

  5. For cute! I need to find someone with kittens so I can play with them. I love swirling string around so fast the kittens wipe out chasing it. Great fun!

Oh, did you just get a gravatar, Nauloera, or did I just not notice before?

  6. Just set it up today. :)

  7. Awww, I love kittens. :) It’s amazing how they get into every imaginable spot, tho, isn’t it? And I, too, had a leg climber. Ouch!

  8. All of the above places are, in fact, appropriate playgrounds for kittens. We know you got all that stuff just for us! *meow*

  9. Aw, now I want a kitten. I am up visiting my family for a time, and they had adopted a cat that wasn’t quite grown into a cat yet, but not a little bitty kitten either, and I had great fun playing with him. He was especially fond of the string catching race and playing in a gift bag. But over the last few months he’s grown up and is much too good for such immature play. You can see him turn his nose up in disdain at my attempts to interest him in some fun. :(

  10. That’s the thing about kittens…they grow up into cats. Once that happens, no more fun play time.

  11. It actually depends on the personality of the cat. I have multiple cats that have played for years. Even my 15 year old, though he has slowed down in his adventures. Certainly the oldest ones aren’t enticed to it as easily as the kitten!

  12. Must be the cats my mother picks. Even as kittens, they were ornery cusses. And now, as adults, they have no interest in playing.

I was wishing I had cats tonight. There is a cloud of moths flying around our exterior lights. It’s fun watching cats chase moths around the house.

  13. Yeah - my two (Max and Charlie) are both about two, and they have little terror moments, and tend to revert to kittenisms if they don’t have 15-20 minutes of interactive play from me a few times a day - plus the standard games of chase each other around everything. Just depends on the cat!

  14. Love this :)

Bedtime is a time to sleep, not play blanket monster with mommy’s toes. That is totally what my cat is like.
